Mean Rooster

Mean Rooster

If you are a country kid, you likely remember a mean rooster.

They are beautiful bullies. If you've ever been spurred, you'll never forget it. My most recent rooster was named Major. He was beautiful, multi-color (mostly copper/red) A brave leader, but he detsted the sight of humans. I was always shooing him out of my Thai Peppers. He enjoyed eating the VERY HOT peppers, and foliage. The coyotes got him. Maybe a bobcat. I know for a fact he didn't go without one hell of a fight. My latest painting is created in Major's honor... the mean little bass-turd.

A starry, moonlit Partridge in a Pear Tree
A starry, moonlit Partridge in a Pear Tree

The foundation of Kimberly Potts' version of "Partridge in a Pear Tree" is a single espallier branch, since including the entire tree would reduce the scale of the heart of the painting:  the partridge.   This version of "A Partridge in a Pear Tree" expanded the vision and indulged the tendency toward fanciful and fantastical (i.e., note the meteor shower taking place amid the stars.)
