Frida-esque'

There have been many paintings of Frida Kahlo.  While my painting is not Frida, it is most definitely heavily influenced by her. Mexican artist Frida Kahlo is iconic for her self-portraits of pain and passion, using bold and vibrant colors. She is celebrated in Mexico for her attention to Mexican and its indigenous culture and her unique depiction of the female experience. Hopefully, Frida would approve!

10 Lords A-Leaping has truly been one of the most FUN projects in my "Twelve Days of Christmas" painting project so far!  I contemplate many mediums for artistic inspiration. I came across a Pinterest page featuring the Royal Ballet of London's performance of the "Tale of Jeremy Fisher."  The images of the coloured botanical backgrounds, water plants, trout, water beetle and, of course, a frog named Jeremy  are absolutely enchanting.

The main focus of "Eight Maids-a-Milking" is to evoke delight and to bring a smile to the viewer.  Who does not love a black and white mamma sow and her tiny, wiggly piglets?  I sincerely hope that you delight in this depiction of the age-old song verse of "Twelve Days of Christmas.
